CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 1, 2007 – Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt today announced the reappointment of Donald “Brad” Bedell of Sikeston, Mo., to the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents.

“Brad Bedell is an avid supporter of Southeast Missouri State University, and I am pleased he agreed to continue his service to the University,” Blunt said.

The Governor’s sentiments were echoed by Southeast President Kenneth W. Dobbins.

“Brad Bedell has been an extremely valuable member of the Board of Regents throughout his first term, and as the Board’s president his experience and familiarity with the issues facing Southeast will be a great asset to the institution’s future development,” Dobbins said.

Bedell, 38, is president of Maverick Consulting Group, a company he founded which provides general business and financial consulting to various corporations.  He holds a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in management and a juris doctorate degree, both from the University of Mississippi.

Bedell currently serves as president of the Board of Regents and is a member of the Southeast Missouri State University Foundation Board.

Bedell was appointed to the Board of Regents in April 2001 by former Gov. Bob Holden. That term expired Jan. 1. His reappointment is subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate for a term ending Jan. 1, 2013.

He is a member of the Top 20 Club for Southeast men’s basketball, the Dugout Club and a member of the University Foundation President’s Council. He is also a Redhawk Benefactor in the Booster Club.

At the University of Mississippi, Bedell served as vice magistrate of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, and he is a member of both the Lamar Order at Mississippi’s School of Law and the Business Order with its School of Business. “Ole Miss” named him the 2002 Outstanding Young Alumni of the Year, an award given to one individual each year who has made significant contributions to their career and community.

Bedell is president of the Missouri Health Care Association, where he served two previous terms as president and was its 2000-2001 Member of the Year.  He also has served as a board member for the American Health Care Association where he currently serves as a regional PAC chair.  Additionally, he has served as a member of the board of directors for the YMCA of Southeast Missouri.  He belongs to the St. Louis chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO), an international organization of corporate presidents who work to become better presidents by learning from each other.  Bedell serves as Missouri chairman for All Children Matter and is on the board of directors of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Athletic League.
