The Gallery at Southeast Missouri State University’s Catapult Creative House, located at 612 Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau, will host a First Friday reception from 5-9 p.m. June 1 for the exhibition “Breath.”

The show will feature the work of Jessica Lambert, Catapult Creative House Student Gallery manager and senior Bachelor of Fine Arts student at Southeast, and will remain on display through July 27.

“Breath” is a collection of visual works focused on sleep, dreams, fatigue and rest. Everyone sleeps and everyone dreams. Sleep can relieve fatigue but invoke restlessness. Sleep provides rest for the body and mind. Lambert explores this in printmaking, sculpture and video.

An artist lecture is scheduled for Thursday, May 31, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Catapult Creative House Classroom.

During the opening reception, visitors are welcome to tour the entire Catapult facilities, including the Southeast Missouri State University Department of Art upstairs student studios.

Catapult Creative House hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. All gallery exhibitions, events and talks are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Leah Powers at lepowers@semo.edu or (573) 290-5372.
