‘Bred Consciousness: (In)Sight’ to Highlight Student Performance Showcase

DanceXpressions and the Department of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University will present the Student Performance Showcase May 1, featuring “Bred Consciousness: (in)sight” choreographed by Southeast senior Katharine Stricker.

The Student Performance Showcase is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 1 in Forrest H. Rose Theatre. Admission is free.

Stricker, of Springfield, Ill., will receive the first bachelor of fine arts degree with a major in performing arts awarded by the Department of Theatre and Dance this summer. Stricker choreographed, costumed and composed “Bred Consciousness: (in)sight” as her culminating senior project. It is based on research into abuse, molestation and neglect and their effects on people, especially women. The sound score is composed by Stricker and Black Kat Bone (Christopher Beasley and Joshua Maxwell).

The Student Performance Showcase also features students from Performance Studies and Choreography II classes as well as students involved in DanceXpressions and the Department of Theatre and Dance.
