Cape Central High School Senior and Piano Prodigy to Shine at Symphony Concert Oct. 21

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 3, 2003 — The Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra will feature a solo performance by rising young star Bonan Wang at its “Family Favorites” concert scheduled for Oct. 21.

Wang began playing piano at the age of 4 and has not quit since. She has won several prestigious awards, including second place in performance and best overall for outstanding musicianship by the Louisiana Music Teacher’s Association in 2000 and was the 11th grade winner in the Missouri Music Teacher’s Association State Honors Piano Solo Auditions in 2002. She plans on entering the Music Teacher’s National Association’s Senior Piano Competition late this year.

This summer, Wang attended Adamant Music School’s summer session. She is currently an accompanist for Central High School’s Chamber Choir and their Festival Singers and Instrumentalists. In her free time, she also plays piano with the First Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau.

Come and catch a rising star at Southeast’s Symphony Orchestra presentation of “Family Favorites” and be able to say, “I saw her when…”
