Cape Third Graders to Receive Dictionaries Thanks to Southeast Service Project

WHO:  Students from Kappa Delta Pi, the honor society for education majors, along with members of the Student Missouri State Teachers Association at Southeast Missouri State University will be participating in the Dictionary Project, giving dictionaries to every third grader in the Cape Girardeau School System.

WHAT: The Dictionary Project is a nationwide project designed to give all third graders a dictionary to assist them in completing the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers.  Southeast students involved in the project raised money to purchase the dictionaries by selling T-shirts and gathering donations through bookplates. The students involved will be giving a Webster’s paperback dictionary to each child, and will do an activity with the children to help them practice using the dictionaries.  Teachers also will receive a dictionary. The dictionaries are for the children to personally keep.

WHERE: Blanchard Elementary School

WHEN: 2:15 p.m., Monday, Nov. 22
