Catapult Creative House Hosting Open House Oct. 9 and 11


Southeast Missouri State University’s Catapult Creative House and students in Southeast’s hospitality management program are hosting an open house from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, and Thursday, Oct. 11, at Catapult Creative House.

Activities will include guided tours, a hands-on workshop with a free gift, live printing demonstrations in the letter press studio, including a flash sale, and a selfie booth. A few lucky guests will leave with a T-shirt live printed with their favorite design.

Students enrolled in Professional Meeting and Event Management (HM260) are planning and executing the event as a part of an experiential learning project.

Visitors are welcome to view the current art exhibitions. They include “Literary Innovations: A Juried National Exhibition Inspired by William Faulkner and Gabriel García Márquez,” an exhibition focusing on the prolific and writings of Faulkner and García Márquez and featuring a diverse body of work created by national and international artists, located in the gallery, and “Built Up: An Individual’s Examination of Home,” highlighting the watercolors artwork of Southeast art major Erin Gericke, on the second floor of Catapult Creative House.

Catapult Creative Shoppe also will be open for visitors to browse student work and local business products, and FUEL, which features freshly brewed Kaldi’s coffee, as well as savory menu options made by Southeast’s hospitality management students

Additionally, the Pop-Up retail space will be open for visitors to purchase one-of-a-kind jewelry, cards and wearables, as well as ceramics and prints, all created by local artists. The Pop-Up Shop is located behind the Letter Press Studio on the first floor of Catapult Creative House.

This free event is family-friendly and open to the public. Appetizers and refreshments will be provided.

Catapult Creative House is located at 612 Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Regular business hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
