Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Announces Training in Bonne Terre for Business Startups


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 12, 2010 –   The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which operates a Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) at Southeast Missouri State University, is offering the new business workshop “How to Start a New Business!” on Tuesday, Nov. 2, in Bonne Terre, Mo.

The workshop is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. and will be held in the City Council Room at Bonne Terre City Hall, located at 118 N. Allen Street in Bonne Terre. The instructor is Russell Humphrey, director of the SBTDC at Southeast.

Topics covered in the “How to Start a New Business” workshop will include: expectations for going into business for yourself, legal and tax issues for small businesses, resources for Missouri business owners, marketing, finance, and a question and answer session.

The fee for the workshop is $30 with a discounted fee of $15 for an additional registration by a business partner or family member.  Pre-registration is required with a deadline of Friday, Oct. 29. “This is an informal, interactive workshop that emphasizes real world information and is specifically designed for people thinking about starting or buying a business,” said Russell Humphrey, instructor for the workshop. “This three-hour program is packed with common-sense things to plan for and do when you’re opening a business. Interestingly, we find people often skip over or never even consider some of these important steps.”
