The Chemistry Completion Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

Drs. Thomas and Linda Crites of Portland, Oregon, made a $52,000 gift to establish the award.

The renewable scholarship will be awarded to a Southeast undergraduate majoring in chemistry with a minimum 3.0 grade point average and who has completed at least 60 credit hours. The Department of Chemistry and Physics Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.

Dr. Crites graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science with majors in chemistry and mathematics. In 1964, he earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in physics. He later earned a doctorate from the University of Oklahoma and enjoyed an extensive career specializing in radiation safety with Sandia National Laboratories and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
