A performance by the “Chinese Warriors of Peking” will kick off the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus 2018-2019 Bank of Missouri Touring Series at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.
“‘Chinese Warriors of Peking’ offers edge-of-your-seat entertainment by performing a culturally enriching experience filled with juggling, acrobatics, weapons handling and live stage combat,” said Bob Cerchio, assistant director of Southeast’s Earl and Margie Holland College of Arts and Media.
High-intensity martial arts and astonishing acrobatics create a new production set during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) performing the tale of two rival martial arts disciplines competing in the ancient Chinese capital of Peking.
“The audience is going to be truly amazed by the strength, grace and beauty of this company and show,” Cerchio said.
Under the direction of Qui Jian, “Chinese Warrior of Peking” is presented by Columbia Artists Management and the Ministry of Culture of The People’s Republic of China. The production has received numerous awards with its riveting acts since its founding date in 1958.
