The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning “RENT” will close Southeast Missouri State University’s 2018-2019 Bank of Missouri Touring Series at 7:30 p.m. May 6 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeast’s River Campus.
“With its inspiring message of joy and hope in the face of fear, this timeless celebration of friendship and creativity will inspire audiences to measure our lives with the only thing that truly matters—love,” said Bob Cerchio, assistant director of Southeast’s Earl and Margie Holland College of Arts and Media.
In 1996, an original rock musical by Jonathan Larson opened on Broadway entertaining audiences with portrayal of love and tragedy. The musical transformed the landscape of American theatre. Two decades later, Larson’s “RENT” continues to speak loudly to audiences across generations and the globe, and returns to the stage in a lively 20th anniversary touring production.
“It’s thrilling to bring this major entertainment event to the River Campus,” Cerchio said.
