Southeast Missouri State University’s College of Education will be recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2017-2019 at a presentation by representatives from Apple at noon today, Feb. 2 in the EDvolution Center, located in Mark F. Scully Building Room 210.
The campus community is invited to attend and celebrate the College of Education becoming one of the most continuously innovative schools in the world for learning, teaching and school environment. Light refreshments will be served.
Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of innovation, leadership and educational excellence that use Apple products to inspire creativity, collaboration and critical thinking. They showcase innovative uses of technology in learning, teaching and school environment and have documented results of academic accomplishment.
In October 2017, the College of Education was selected for its vision in leveraging technology to support learning goals. Central to the curriculum is the EDvolution Center, where a modern, high-tech environment helps Southeast education majors develop their skills, incorporating Apple technology into their educational practices.
Southeast’s College of Education will be featured on the Apple Distinguished Schools’ website as a leader in innovation, and will share their successes with other educators by publishing their stories and hosting other schools.
Dr. Diana Rogers-Adkinson, dean of the College of Education, also is becoming an Apple educator, training other institutions on how to infuse their curriculum with innovative technology, and showcasing the EDvolution Center’s best practices for using Apple products and digital content to create powerful teaching and learning experiences.
