Cora Arlene Miller Mabrey Endowed Scholarship Established at Southeast


The Cora Arlene Miller Mabrey Endowed Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

The scholarship was created through a $10,000 gift from the trust of Cora Arlene Miller Mabrey.

The renewable scholarship will be awarded to a Southeast student from Ripley County in Missouri and an education major. Second preference will go to a student in business.

Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average. The College of Education, Health and Human Studies will select the recipient.

Mabrey was 1963 graduate of Southeast with a Bachelor of Science in Education, secondary education, with a major in business education. She also earned a Master of Arts in Teaching with a major in business education in 1975.

Mabrey loved teaching and was a devoted teacher to all her students. She knew what hard work and determination could do, especially coming from the small community of Pine, Missouri. After obtaining her degrees from Southeast Missouri State University, she began her teaching career in Florissant, Missouri, and in other St. Louis community schools, combining for more than 30 years of teaching.
