The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus will host a “3D Forms: Optical Illusions” Make and Take Activity as part of Cape Girardeau’s First Friday with the Arts activities April 5 from 4-8 p.m.
The event will be repeated on Saturday, April 6, from 1-4 p.m.
The public is invited to attend, and admission is free. Supplies are provided.
Southeast staff and students will lead participants in learning how light and dark value changes can create the optical illusion of 3D images on a 2D surface. Participants will create images that seem to go down into the paper or appear to magically float above it. Geometric shapes that case shadows to simulate a bird’s eye view will also be made.
The Crisp Museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus, located at 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, 1-4 p.m. on weekends and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the first Friday of the month.
