The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus is hosting a “Chain Mail Jewelry” workshop Feb. 29 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Pre-registration is required by Feb 19.
During this workshop, local artist Dale Swift teaches the basics of how to make attractive metal jewelry from small metal rings. Participants will learn to make their own chain mail, a type of armor consisting of metal rings linked to form a mesh. Participants will also learn how to cut loops from wire and assemble the loops to create the four-in-one pattern technique. By the end of the workshop, participants will make a byzantine-style bracelet.
