“Storyworx” workshop themes will include:
Sci-Fi Fantasy Adventure Workshop:
What if the artifacts in the Crisp Museum came from civilizations that long ago traveled to and from other galaxies? Or, what if they’re secretly alive, and they play video games on the office computers at night? In this workshop, participants will use their imagination to create stories and objects unique to this world, with plots that will captivate family and friends.
Whodunit? Mystery Writing Workshop:
During this workshop, participants will read some short story mystery tales, find clues, write and share their own short mystery stories. Discussions include the ways good writers are similar to detectives, noticing little details that many people miss. For their stories, they will be using the Crisp Museum’s galleries for writing prompts.
Short Story Writing and Illustration Workshop:
Authors start with their own original ideas and experiences for their story’s beginning, middle and end. Using this as a framework, they creatively expand each section and develop interesting characters in descriptive settings as their plot unfolds. Inclusion of a twist or surprising turn can be a fascinating element. Participants will also have mini-lessons involving memory walks, illustration, personification and puppetry.
