CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 8, 2014 — The Department of Mass Media at Southeast Missouri State University and KRCU-FM will begin a new chapter together starting in August 2014 as students from the department’s multimedia journalism option begin creating and producing multimedia news and information content about the Southeast campus for the NPR affiliate.
Plans are under way for students in the MC429 Media Management course to produce audio segments for on-air broadcast and for online delivery through the station’s website at www.krcu.org.
In order to allow sufficient student and faculty resources to be devoted to this new undertaking, the decision has been made that the department will cease to operate its low power FM student station Rage 103.7 KDMC by June 30. Several student-produced programs now airing on Rage 103.7 will be transitioned to airing online at The Arrow’s website for Fall 2014.
The Rage studio space and production facilities within the department will continue to be utilized for audio classes in the multimedia journalism option, and the space will also be the new home for the multimedia content production lab to support this expanded partnership between the department and KRCU-FM.
