It is Lightning Awareness Week and the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness office would like to help you stay safe during the severe weather season.
Here are some lightning safety tips:
- If you can hear thunder, you are in danger.
- Stay away from tall objects such as trees and light poles.
- Avoid wide open areas such as sports fields.
- Unprotected or open buildings such as patios and covered entrances are not a safe place to shelter.
