Drs. Ivan and Wanda Davenport Endowed Scholarship Established at Southeast

The Drs. Ivan and Wanda Davenport Endowed Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

Dr. Wanda “Sunny” Davenport of Festus, Missouri, made a $10,000 gift to establish the award in honor of her husband, the late Dr. Ivan “Joe” Davenport. This scholarship is meant to encourage students who have a passion for learning and are excited about pursuing their academic careers.

Those eligible for the renewable scholarship will be full-time undergraduate students in Southeast’s Department of Communication Disorders. A minimum 3.0 grade point average is required, and the Department of Communication Disorders Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.

The Davenports were originally from Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and were married on Aug. 21, 1961.

The late Dr. Ivan “Joe” Davenport graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1954. In 1962, he graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, majoring in history and social studies.
