Kick-off the holiday season with Southeast Missouri State University students at The Jeanine Larson Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance’s Extravaganza on Nov. 23.
The Extravaganza will be held in the John and Betty Glenn Convocation Center at the River Campus with a 5:30 p.m. social, followed by heavy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments at 6 p.m.
This year’s show begins a new tradition, with the Extravaganza being held in conjunction with the “Big Band Christmas Jukebox,” presented by the Department of Music and The Jeanine Larson Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance, Saturday, Nov. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Donald. C. Bedell Performance Hall.
“The Extravaganza is a great family friendly event to kick off the holiday season,” said Dr. Kenn Stilson, chair of the Conservatory. “There will be games for the kids, while flash mobs featuring dancers and musical theatre students will entertain the adults with holiday-themed songs and dancing.”
Southeast students will emcee the evening, and design and technical theatre students will display their work from previous River Campus shows. Additionally, the evening will feature a raffle and prize giveaways.
The evening provides an intimate experience for attendees to interact with the students who live, study and work at the Conservatory, as well as meet and greet Southeast faculty and staff.
The Extravaganza serves as the primary fundraiser to benefit Bachelor of Fine Arts majors to participate in annual showcases in New York City and Los Angeles. Additionally, the funds raised support graduating seniors in finding post-graduate employment and the Conservatory in hosting workshops and master class series.
