CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo, Nov. 20, 2007 — The Department of Music at Southeast Missouri State University will present a Faculty Chamber Recital at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall in the Seminary Building at River Campus.
The program will feature Brandon Christensen, violin, Michael Dean, clarinet, Sara Edgerton, cello, Laura Reycraft, viola, and Laura Guyer Ross, oboe.
This concert will feature an assortment of music. The “Passacaglia” for violin and viola, by Johan Halverson, is a set of variations of increasing drama and virtuosity based on harpsichord themes by George Frederic Handel. “Desertscape” by Keith Merrill Bradshaw is a composition for clarinet and piano depicting various times and events of the deserts and canyons of southern Utah. The “Mozart Oboe Quartet” is scored for oboe, violin, viola and cello. It was written for a friend of Mozart’s and is intended to showcase the oboe in a unique setting. Also being performed is an oboe/clarinet duet written by G. Kummer. It is a playful piece in which each line chases the other from start to finish.
