The Redhawk Health Educators is seeking faculty and staff who are passionate about peer education to consider becoming advisors to help mentor the group.
Redhawk Health Educators are student leaders who deliver prevention education to the Southeast student body on a variety of topics concerning mental and physical health, including healthy relationships, alcohol risk reduction, stress reduction, healthy consumption, suicide prevention, movement and healthy sexuality. Some of their popular outreach events have been Sex@SEMO and Puppy Love. The students are trained and certified through The National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and are encouraged to identify areas of need on Southeast’s campus.
Redhawk Health Educators develop outreach events to deliver support and education. They work closely with Missouri Partners in Prevention (PIP) to assess effectiveness through the MACHB survey that is administered each year. Additionally, PIP supplies much of the education merchandise. Advisors do not need to attend each meeting or event but may choose events according to special topics.
For more information on how to become an advisor to the Redhawk Health Educators or how to contribute funding for the group, contact Donna St. Sauver at firstname.lastname@example.org or (573) 986-6191.
