The annual “Fall for Dance” takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19-21 and 2 p.m. Nov. 22 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
The returning favorite features original choreography by faculty, guest artists and students in Southeast’s Jeanine Larson Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance, providing the variety of dance audiences enjoy. The concert will include an original contemporary work by choreographer Ashley Tate.
“This annual concert is one you don’t want to miss,” said Hilary Peterson, coordinator of dance and associate professor. “The faculty work includes a mix of ballet, jazz and contemporary movement and utilizes a wide variety of music by artists such as Antonio Vivaldi and Gypsy Flamenco Masters.”
Peterson said the choreography by Tate is “extremely engaging and energetic.”
Tate is the founder, artistic and executive director of Ashleyliane Dance Company, a full-service dance organization based in the Greater St. Louis area. Her work has been featured in choreographer’s showcases in New York City at the Peridance Capezio Center, TADA! Theater, and Baruch Performing Arts Center, as well as the Choreographer’s Carnival in Chicago, Illinois, and Versatility Dance Festival in Boulder, Colorado, and Santa Monica, California.
Tate is a 2018 recipient of the Spencer T & Ann W. Olin Fellowship for Women in Graduate Study, and she is a 2020 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts in dance.
