First Operation Jumpstart Online Class Starts May 4

Operation Jump StartCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 20, 2015 – Entrepreneurs in southeast Missouri will now have more opportunities to realize their dreams of small business ownership with the help of Southeast Missouri State University’s Small Business & Technology Development Center’s (SBTDC) first fully online class of the nationally-recognized Operation JumpStart training program.

“Operation JumpStart has been extremely successful in training local entrepreneurs about idea feasibility and starting businesses,” said SBTDC Business Development Associate Keith Huggins. “I am excited about the opportunity we have to offer this program online and believe the new format will provide convenience and more accessibility to aspiring entrepreneurs throughout our region.”

The eight-week self-paced online course will help participants evaluate their business ideas from every angle through the completion of a feasibility plan. Interactive e-lessons and activities; e-mentoring on course content and assignments; access to templates, worksheets, and a discussion board; and additional learning on topics such as Marketing, Accounting, Legal, and Access to Capital build on each other to help participants decide if their business is a “go” or “no go” before they invest much time and money into a new business.

The class starts the same week as National Small Business Week May 4-8. Enrollment is $49 and includes access to all course materials through the online learning portal. Participants also have the opportunity to attend face-to-face workshops/discussions and receive business consulting at the SBTDC at no additional cost.

Interested participants should register as soon as possible as the class size is limited. For more information or to register, please call (573) 651-5095 or email
