March 30, 2007 – Four Air Force ROTC cadets at Southeast Missouri State University have been selected to receive two-and-a-half-year scholarships from Air Force ROTC Headquarters.

Selected for the scholarships are Eric Kaysinger, a sophomore business major from  Bourbon, Mo., Rachel Long, a sophomore agribusiness major from Dexter, Mo., Ashlie Beckman, a sophomore health management major from Kansas City, Mo., and Neal Grossheider, a sophomore industrial technology major from Jackson, Mo.

“This is an unusually high selection rate for such a small detachment,” said Major Kevin Colyott, Air Force ROTC instructor at Southeast.

The scholarships cover tuition costs for the students, up to a maximum of $15,000 a year. In addition, each cadet will receive a $750 annual textbook allowance and a $300 monthly stipend.

Colyott says when the scholarships are activated, 70 percent of Southeast’s Air Force ROTC cadets will be receiving Air Force ROTC scholarship money.

“Most of our students who perform well academically have a very good chance of being offered a scholarship by their junior year of ROTC,” he said.
