CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
Dec. 1, 2008 – The Southeast Missouri State University Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Shane Mizicko, assistant professor of music, will present its first “Family Holiday Concert” on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 10:30 a.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
This free concert is geared towards families with young children and will last for approximately 45 minutes. In addition to live festive holiday tunes performed by the Southeast Percussion Ensemble, there will be slide shows from classic children’s books such as Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
The Percussion Ensemble will be joined by the Southeast Student Brass Quintet and Southeast voice faculty member, Timothy Schmidt, in an amusing and colorful rendition of the classic “’Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Also joining the Percussion Ensemble will be students from Dance Extensions Dance Studio, performing excerpts from the “Nutcracker.”
Stroller parking will be provided inside Bedell Performance Hall as well as in the atrium. Free milk and cookies will be served at the conclusion of the performance.
