Gerecke, Lockhart Honored with Chairpersons Forum Recognition Awards

Bonnie Gerecke, administrative assistant in the Department of Mass Media, and Floyd Lockhart, Learning Management System administrator in Information Technology’s Academic Technologies Department, were recently honored with 2020-21 Chairpersons Forum Recognition Awards.

The Chairpersons Forum Recognition Award was created to show appreciation for an administrative assistant in an academic unit that has provided exemplary service and to a staff member from a non-academic office or department on campus who provides exceptional support to chairpersons of all academic departments.

Gerecke was nominated by Dr. Tamara Zellars Buck, chair of the Department of Mass Media, for working with six chairpersons during her 14 years at Southeast and has been instrumental in the department retaining accreditation throughout that time. Gerecke regularly conducts masterclasses on Banner and assorted University processes for other administrative assistants, and she ensures the department is the first to submit required forms and paperwork.

Lockhart was nominated by Dr. Kevin Dickson, chair of the Department of Management. As the Learning Management System administrator, Lockhart has been a great support to departments and programs. He responds quickly to any questions and provides a quick resolution to whatever problem departments are facing, even in the evening or on the weekend. Lockhart supported departments using Moodle, transitioning to Canvas and continues to provide invaluable support for faculty using the Canvas Learning Management System.

Gerecke and Lockhart go above and beyond the responsibilities of their staff positions, and the Chairpersons Forum is pleased to recognize their service.
