Karen Grebing has been named director of Marketing and University Relations
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
July 15, 2008 – Karen Grebing, director of marketing and development with University Advancement at Southeast Missouri State University, has been named director of Marketing and University Relations at Southeast.
Under Grebing’s leadership, University Relations and marketing initiatives for the Southeast Missouri University Foundation, alumni and the Advancement Division, will now merge under one umbrella. Grebing’s appointment is effective July 14.
“The transition of University Relations and University Advancement into one team provides a tremendous opportunity to develop a truly integrated marketing approach for the University, which will greatly assist in accomplishing the goals and objectives of Southeast’s new strategic plan,” Grebing said. “Another priority for the new marketing team is to improve communication with our constituents, both internally and externally.”
Grebing has been with the University since 2006 and has been responsible for directing the creation, execution and evaluation of development and marketing initiatives for University Advancement with the objective of achieving the Southeast Missouri University Foundation’s fund-raising goals and strengthening alumni relations. In that role, she has supervised the development, production and distribution of print, online and video marketing and communication projects. Grebing has managed the design and content of both the Foundation and Alumni Web sites and the online community iAMsoutheast.
She has served as co-editor of The Magazine of Southeast Missouri State University. She has served as development liaison to the River Campus and the Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts. Grebing has also directed the Annual Fund program, including the development and segmentation of direct mail and the management of a student caller Telefund.
Grebing came to the University after a 26-year career in banking, most recently serving as regional marketing coordinator with Regions Bank in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. She holds a bachelor of arts in business administration degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo.
“I am extremely pleased and excited to be named to this position at Southeast, and I look forward to working with this very talented group of marketing and communication professionals,” Grebing said.
In her new role as director of Marketing and University Relations, Grebing will be charged with developing and implementing the University’s marketing and branding strategies, marketing communications and public relations activities, both internal and external. She will direct the marketing, communications and public relations staff and articulate the University’s image and brand in delivery of the University’s message to its constituents. Grebing also will be responsible for developing, executing and overseeing programs necessary to communicate the University’s mission and performance to the public, managing the constituent information database and directing the creation of fund-raising, campaign and stewardship materials for the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.
Diane Sides, former director of University Relations, has been named associate to the president, filling the role of Art Wallhausen, who is retiring at the end of August.
