CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
April 14, 2008 – Dr. Robert Hamblin, professor of English and director of the Center for Faulkner Studies at Southeast Missouri State University, will deliver a series of literary lectures in Taiwan in May.
On May 10, Hamblin will present the keynote address at a symposium on “Teaching Literature in the 21st Century” at Feng Chia University in Taichung. While on that campus, Hamblin also will conduct a teaching literature workshop for faculty and students and present a reading from a selection of his own poems.
On May 12-13, in Taipei, Hamblin will deliver two lectures on William Faulkner ᾰthe first to the Academia Sinica and the second at National Taiwan University. Those lectures will treat Faulkner’s favorite novel, The Sound and the Fury, and the influence of Mark Twain upon Faulkner’s work.
