Christopher Hollingsworth of the Illinois State University music faculty will present vocal music recital March 24 at the River Campus.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 10, 2010 – Christopher Hollingsworth of the Illinois State University music faculty will present a recital of vocal music on Wednesday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m., in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall at the River Campus.
The program will include selections by Beethoven, Duparc, and Tosti, and spiritual arrangements by Moses Hogan and Mark Hayes.
On Thursday, March 25, Hollingsworth will work with Southeast voice students in an open master class from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Shuck Recital Hall.
Hollingsworth, tenor, holds degrees from DePauw University, Binghamton University, and University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Prior to his teaching at Illinois State University, he also was on the voice faculties of Syracuse University and Lycoming College. He is an active recitalist and oratorio soloist in the Midwest region, and his operatic and musical theater credits include leading and featured roles in “Cosi fan tutte,” “The Magic Flute,” “Le Nozze di Figaro,” “La Traviata,” “Die Fledermaus,” “Street Scene,” “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” and “Big River.”
