‘How Art Happens’ Theme of Annual Early Childhood Seminar


2013_Loc_Dempster039-XLCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. Sept. 14, 2006 – Child Care Resource and Referral will sponsor its annual early childhood seminar, “How Art Happens,” Sept. 23 in Dempster Hall on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University.

The keynote speaker is Kathryn Zellich, executive director of Cornerstone Center for Early Learning, Inc. The presentation will explore the many factors that combine to produce effective art experiences, as well as describe the influence of development, environment and adult interactions as art unfolds.

This year’s breakout sessions include presentations by Charla Meyers, Mary Gosche, Sara Garner, Diane Miesner, Susan Blanford, Amy Franklin, Christy Colyer, Jane Moldenhauer and Jill Steffens. The breakout sessions will cover topics such as art and science and their correlation; promoting children’s success; staff retention through organization climate; documentation; an exploration of children’s work; building courage, resilience and tenacity in young children; and using positives to guide children and exploring through learning centers.
