‘In C’ Celebrates Minimalist Music


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 1, 2015 — The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music presents “In C: A Celebration of Minimalist Music” on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Southeast’s River Campus.

The program will feature more than a dozen Department of Music faculty collaborating in three works by masters of Minimalism: Michael Nyman, Gavin Bryars and Terry Riley. The highlight of the concert will be a performance of “In C,” Riley’s work from 1964, which is usually credited with being the very first Minimalist composition.

The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall at Southeast’s River Campus.
