John McEuen & Friends present “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” for the first time at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.
“It will be fantastic to see this international country and bluegrass legend on the Bedell stage,” said Bob Cerchio, assistant director of Southeast’s Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts.
McEuen is a founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, which is in their 50th year. He has continually performed since 1964 with the band and as a solo artist. He instigated the classic “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” album in 1972.
McEuen has a rich history of creating, producing and preserving original and traditional folk and acoustic music and taking it to new audiences.
“He has earned Emmy nominations, Grammy Awards, Country Music Award acclaim, the western Heritage Award and countless other accolades,” Cerchio said. “I’m really looking forward to hearing him take us ‘behind the curtain’ of the music world.”
