CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri, March 24, 2015 – The Kaden Robert Memorial Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

The new scholarship is part of the Honoring Tradition – Inspiring Success Comprehensive Campaign through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. This program allowed donors to make a minimum commitment of $5,000 to a maximum commitment of $10,000 through donation or pledge that qualified for a $1-for-$1 match.

The Kaden Robert Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a Southeast freshman who is a Kelly High School graduate and participated in high school athletics. Recipients must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Financial need will be considered but is not required for the award. The selection committee will include a representative from Kelly High School, Aaron and Rhonda Robert, and representatives from Southeast Athletics and the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

The scholarship was created in memory of Kaden Robert, a rising sophomore at Kelly High School. He was an honor student and a member of the Pep Club. Robert was very active in sports and enjoyed playing baseball and, most recently, football and weightlifting. He loved traveling with his baseball team to areas in Missouri, Tennessee and Mississippi.

Robert had a skill for making friends with everyone and seeing the best in them. He has touched the lives of so many people from many different places and will continue to do so even after his untimely death. He had already consented to organ donation and through this gift, Robert’s legacy lives on in the lives of five individuals.

He had always wanted to attend college. He was looking forward to that chapter in his life.
