Drs. Mary Ann and Bert Kellerman of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, have made two gifts to the Southeast Missouri University Foundation to establish two renewable scholarships — the Dr. Mary Ann Kellerman Scholarship in Interior Design and the Dr. Bert Kellerman Scholarship in Marketing.
Both scholarships will be awarded to full-time students enrolled at Southeast with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The recipient of the Dr. Mary Ann Kellerman Scholarship will be a full-time student pursuing a degree in interior design, while the recipient of the Dr. Bert Kellerman Scholarship will be a full-time student pursuing a degree in marketing. Academic achievement, financial need and involvement in student and community organizations will be considered for both scholarships.
Dr. Mary Ann Kellerman taught at Southeast Missouri State University for 30 years. Prior to Southeast, she taught at Southern Illinois University and the University of Missouri. She received her bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Dr. Mary Ann Kellerman developed the interior design major at Southeast and coordinated that program from its beginning in 1976 to 2000. She has also consulted on interior design projects for more than 40 years. She and her husband also helped develop the Historic Preservation Program and established a Foundation for Historic Preservation.
Dr. Bert Kellerman taught at Southeast Missouri State University for 41 years, retiring in 2006. He was the first chair of the Department of Marketing and served in that position for 15 years (1976-1990). He also served as associate dean of the Harrison College of Business for 12 years (1995-2006). He received his doctoral degree from the University of Missouri.
