Learning Management System (LMS) Contract Awarded to Canvas


In the fall of 2019, the University began the request for proposals (RFP) process to explore Learning Management Systems (LMS). An LMS RFP committee was formed, criteria established, and three venders presented their solutions spring of 2020. From this process, the LMS committee recommended Canvas as the best solution for meeting the needs of our constituents. Canvas was ranked highest in design, mobility, grading, and engagement by the faculty, staff, and students who provided feedback as part of the RFP process.

Migration of courses and training of faculty will take place this fall with the goal of fully implementing Canvas the spring semester of 2021.

An implementation committee comprised of faculty members from each college, Information Technology, the Center for Scholarship in Teaching and Learning, and Southeast Online is being formed. The committee will further define and communicate the process and timeline of the implementation.
