CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 4, 2011 — The new major in Global Cultures & Languages at Southeast Missouri State University will be outlined at a meeting March 9 for all current and prospective majors in the Department of Foreign Languages and Anthropology.
The meeting is scheduled for noon in Crisp Hall Room 125.
The primary purpose of the meeting is to introduce and explain the new combined major in Global Cultures & Languages, scheduled to begin next fall, to the students. The new major combines the department’s current bachelor of arts degree majors in anthropology, French, German, global studies and Spanish into one major. The new major will have a common core and will have options in each of these areas.
Dr. Dieter Jedan, chair of the department, which will be renamed the Department of Global Cultures and Languages next fall, also will discuss the collaborative arrangement Southeast has with other Missouri universities.
