Miller to Perform Pipe Organ Recital

Dr. Gary Miller, professor of music and chair of the Department of Music at Southeast Missouri State University, will present a faculty pipe organ recital at 8 p.m. Feb. 12 in Old St. Vincent’s Church in Cape Girardeau.

The program will feature masterworks of German and French composers including Felix Mendelssohn, Johann Krebs, J.S. Bach, Jean Langlais, Louis Vierne, Oliver Messiaen and Cesar Franck.

The organ at Old St. Vincent’s Church contains 19 ranks and 16 stops for a total of some 1,150 pipes and was installed in 2002. Miller was the area consultant for the project and played the dedicatory recital. The installation is both aurally and visually impressive.

Tickets are $7 for the public, $6 for Southeast faculty and staff and senior citizens, and $5 for students. Discounts are available for advanced sales only. All tickets will be $7 at the door the night of the concert. Tickets may be purchased in advance by coming to the Performing Arts Box Office in the lobby of Forrest H. Rose Theatre or by calling (573) 651-2265.
