Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to attend the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, when it holds its Southern Division docket beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 22 at Southeast Missouri State University.
The oral arguments, which are open to the public, will be heard in Glenn Auditorium of Robert A. Dempster Hall. The docket includes three cases, and students and the public may ask questions after the first two cases are heard. Each case is expected to run about 30 minutes.
Three judges will be in attendance, including Presiding Judge Philip Hess, Judge Kurt Odenwald and Judge Lisa Page.
The judges will sit in panels of three to hear oral arguments from attorneys involved in three cases appealed from circuit courts in Cape Girardeau and Washington counties. The court has held dockets at Southeast on eight prior occasions.
Oral arguments to be heard are as follows:

About the Judges
Hess was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2013, after 30 years in private practice. He served as Chief Judge of the Court from 2016-2017.
Odenwald was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2007 after serving as an attorney in a private practice and as a staff attorney for the St. Louis Office of Public Defender.
Page, a Festus, Missouri, native, graduated magna cum laude from Southeast in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science, and cum laude from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1997. She practiced law in Festus from 1997-2005 with a strong emphasis on Alternative Dispute Resolution and domestic relations. She was appointed Family Court Commissioner on April 29, 2005, and was elected Jefferson County’s first female circuit court judge effective Jan. 1, 2007. Page was appointed in December 2015 to the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District.
The Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, is the state’s largest appellate court with offices in the historic Old Post Office in downtown St. Louis. There are 14 judges on the court, which handles approximately 50 percent of the intermediate appellate caseload in Missouri. Oral arguments are regularly conducted in St. Louis, Hannibal, Cape Girardeau and other locations in the Eastern District.
