CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 11, 2007 — The Southeast Missouri Music Academy at Southeast Missouri State University is taking applications for the spring semester. Lessons are available for all band and orchestral instruments, piano, organ, voice and classical guitar.
In addition, the Suzuki Strings program has a few openings for violin, said Becky Fulgham, director of the Academy. Lessons begin the week of Jan. 22. New this semester is the Academy Youth Orchestra and Academy Junior Youth Orchestra. The orchestra will meet on Saturday mornings and is open to non-beginner violin, viola and cello students. Suzuki students in Book 1 or higher are eligible, Fulgham said.
Back by popular demand are adult beginning piano and adult violin classes, she said. Beginning piano meets on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., starting Jan. 22, and adult violin will meet on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 24. Adults are welcome to enroll for private lessons in any other area as well.
