May 18, 2009 – Two new members of the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents were sworn into office May 16 during a commencement luncheon in the Student Recreation Center-North.
The Honorable Stephen Limbaugh Jr., U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri, issued the oath of office to Doyle Privett and Daren Todd, both of Kennett, Mo. Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon recently appointed the two to fill openings on the Board, and the appointments were confirmed by the Missouri Senate.
Todd replaces Gail Rosmarin of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Privett replaces Edward C. Matthews III of Sikeston, Mo. Both Rosmarin’s and Matthews’ terms on the Board have expired. Todd’s and Privett’s terms run through Jan. 1, 2015.
Privett is a certified public accountant who currently serves as chief financial officer for Kennett National Bank. He previously served on the Board of Regents from 1995 to 2003, and has been active in numerous civic, professional and economic development organizations.
He received his bachelor of science in accounting from Southeast Missouri State University in 1973. Privett is a member of the Missouri Society of CPAs and served on the group’s board of directors from 1987-1988 and 1993-1996; he also served as president of the Southeast Chapter of CPAs in 1988. He is a member of the Ameren/UE Community Development Board, a member of the board of directors of Kennett National Bank, and serves as chairman of the advisory committee of the Southeast’s regional campus in Kennett.
Privett has been married to his wife, Bonnie, since 1974; they have two children, Brian and Brooke, who are both also Southeast graduates.
Todd is an attorney and partner in the law firm of Welch, Todd and Parker in Malden, Mo. He is the City Attorney for the municipality of Holcomb, Mo., and serves as City Judge for the municipality of Cardwell, Mo.
He served as director of the Kennett Public Schools Board of Education from 2004 to 2008. He is a member of the Southeast Missouri State University Alumni Association and of the University’s Copper Dome Society. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Bootheel Youth Museum, as the Treasurer for the 163rd Democratic Legislative Committee, and is a member of the Holcomb Farmer and Merchant Club, the Dunklin County 911 Board, the Malden Chamber of Commerce, the Missouri Bar Association and the Dunklin County Bar Association.
Todd received his bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in finance from Southeast Missouri State University in 1996 and his juris doctor from the Southern Illinois University-Carbondale School of Law in 1999.
