CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 7, 2011 – The Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Southeast Missouri State University will offer two new marketing webinars in September for small business owners to develop and use new techniques to grow their businesses.

Claire Bruce, owner of Merchapolitan and part-time project coordinator for the CIE, will deliver the two webinars titled, “Everyday Innovation” and “Catching More Customers.”

The one-hour webinars will be at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 21, and on Monday, Sept. 26. Participants can log on the webinar from their home or office computer over their lunch hour.

“Everyday Innovation” on Sept. 21 will remind business owners that innovation is not limited to inventing the “next big thing.” In growing businesses, innovation happens every day.

“Innovation can be identifying a new customer base, a new marketing approach, or a new way of doing business; it’s not just about a new invention,” said Bruce. “This webinar is focused on understanding your customers’ and markets’ needs to find continued opportunities for growth.”

In the second webinar on Sept. 26, “Catching More Customers,” business owners will learn techniques of understanding customers and improving connections to “reel in” more sales.

“Participants will leave this webinar equipped with techniques to catch the best customers, identify what bait the competition is using, improve customer relationships and strengthen your small business’s brand,” Bruce added.

Although registration for the webinars is free, it is required. For more information about the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and to register for the webinars, visit or contact Glenna Ervin at Funding for the webinars is provided in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
