Dr. Millicent Odhiambo has been appointed interim director of Counseling and Disability Services.
Odhiambo has been employed with Counseling and Disability Services since 2014, and previously served as coordinator of the Victory Program, now Campus Violence Prevention Program, during the 2012-2013 academic years. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with experience in treatment of various mental health concerns. She is passionate about advocacy, violence prevention and collaboration with the campus community, and she enjoys supporting students through their academic careers to achieve their life goals. Additionally, Odhiambo has extensive work experience with issues related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and disability issues affecting college students, and has served as the assistance director of Disability Services since 2016.
Odhiambo is a 2007 graduate of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kakamega, Kenya, where she earned a Bachelor of Education in English and literature. Before coming to the United States, she worked in Kenya as a secondary school teacher. Odhiambo earned a Master of Science in mental health counseling in 2011 from Southeast, and in 2019 earned a doctorate in education leadership from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
