Pawielski Wins ROTC Civilian of the Year Award

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 15, 2011 — Vance Pawielski, communication coordinator for the Air force ROTC program at Southeast Missouri State University, has won Air Force ROTC Northwest Region’s Air Force’s ROTC Civilian of Year the Award.

To win the top honor, Pawielski competed with civilians from other detachments at 36 universities.  He manages one of the largest geographically separated units in the Headquarters ROTC Northwest Region.  He travels to college fairs and visits high schools throughout the southeast Missouri area representing Air Force ROTC and Southeast. 

Pawielski was selected for this award for his accomplishments in the areas of exceptional management of the Air Force ROTC department at Southeast.  Additionally, he played an instrumental role in Detachment 205 receiving an Excellent Rating during the unit’s Compliance Inspection conducted by Headquarters Air Force ROTC.

Pawielski, a Parma, Mo., native, served 20 years in the Air Force and is a Viet Nam era and Gulf War veteran.
