CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Dec. 2, 2013 – The Southeast Missouri State University Percussion Ensemble’s sixth annual “Family Holiday Concert” will take place at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 14 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeast’s River Campus. The concert is geared toward families with young children and will last approximately 45 minutes. A $1 donation is suggested for admission for those ages 6 and up, and “play-along” egg shakers will be available for $3 each. In addition to live festive holiday tunes performed by the ensemble, slide shows from classic children’s books such as “Frosty the Snowman,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Polar Express” will be displayed.
The ensemble, under the direction of Shane Mizicko, assistant professor of music, will be joined by Southeast Theatre and Dance faculty and students in a very festive and energetic medley of Christmas tunes. Also joining the ensemble will be the fourth grade children’s choir from Alma Schrader Elementary School of Cape Girardeau Public Schools and dancers from Dance Extensions Dance Studio of Jackson, Mo.
Coloring will be available before the performance. Complimentary milk and cookies will be served at the conclusion of the performance.
The concert is free and open to the public.
