CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Dec. 3, 2009 – The Southeast Missouri State University Percussion Ensemble, directed by Southeast percussion instructor Shane Mizicko, will present a family holiday concert on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 a.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at the River Campus. This free concert is geared towards families with young children and will last approximately 45 minutes. In addition to live festive holiday tunes performed by the Southeast Percussion Ensemble, slide shows from classic children’s books such as Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer will be shown. The Percussion Ensemble will be joined by dancers from Dance Extensions Dance Studio in an exciting medley from “The Nutcracker.” The Percussion Ensemble also will be joined by additional woodwind and brass musicians in an amusing and colorful rendition of the classic “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” narrated by Southeast music faculty member Timothy Schmidt. Coloring will be available prior to the performance, and free milk and cookies will be served at the conclusion of the concert. Stroller parking will be provided inside Bedell Performance Hall as well as in the atrium.
