CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
Feb. 9, 2009 – Lynette Khalfani-Cox, a personal finance expert, will present “Taking Control of Your Finances” Feb. 24 at Southeast Missouri State University.
Khalfani-Cox is scheduled to speak at 7:30 p.m. in Glenn Auditorium of Dempster Hall. The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored, in part, by a Default Prevention Grant from the Missouri Department of Higher Education.
Khalfani-Cox has authored five personal finance books, co-authored the five-book children’s series The Millionaire Kids Club, dispenses financial advice as a money coach for AOL and is developing two PBS specials based on her books Zero Debt and The Money Coach’s Guide to Your First Million.
She earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of California-Irvine in 1991 and a master of arts degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California. She is a two-time winner of the Dow Jones International Newswires Award for her coverage of stock market fraud and her pieces on Wall Street’s top players.
Khalfani-Cox has carried many roles in her career. Beginning as a reporter for the Associated Press in Los Angeles, she soon became a correspondent for The Philadelphia Inquirer and a writer and associate producer for Fox TV in Philadelphia. Later, she worked for Dow Jones & Co., where she held several positions from reporter to deputy managing editor.
