Pleasant Plains, Madison, Ill. Students Named Recreation Services Student Employees of the Month


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 20, 2009 — The Department of Recreation Services at Southeast Missouri State University has announced their student Employees of the Month for December 2008.

Daniel Stults, a senior from Pleasant Plains, Ill., and Jeff Branch, a senior from Madison, Ill., were named co-employees of the month for their work and service to the department over the winter break.

Stults, who is a member of Southeast’s track and field team, is a head lifeguard for the Student Aquatic Center. In addition to these responsibilities, he is pursuing a  double major in economics and psychology.

“He was a great help over the break and stayed around to assist us when most other guards took off time for the break,” said Chad Sierman, assistant director – aquatics. Stults hopes to start an MBA degree upon graduating in May.

Branch, a facilities supervisor in the department, was also instrumental in working over the break and filled in on many shifts on days when the University was closed, including on New Year’s Day when the basketball teams practiced in the Recreation Center. Branch, an accounting major, hopes to work for the casino industry in either St. Louis of Las Vegas upon graduation.
