Southeast President Carlos Vargas recently presented a Southeast Shout-Out award to Dr. Glen Williams, chair of the Department of Communication Studies and Modern Languages and professor of communication studies.
Williams was nominated by Dr. Debbie Lee-DiStefano, professor of Spanish language and culture, for his outstanding leadership and work in unifying the newly structured Department of Communication Studies and Modern Languages. His open communication, positive attitude and welcoming opinions while offering knowledgeable advice has been greatly appreciated during the restructuring process and transition, wrote Lee-DiStefano. “He started early in trying to make us feel like a part of the new department and is currently seeking ways to make our processes easier for everyone,” she wrote. “I’ve read the Faculty Handbook, and he fulfills all the categories of being a chair and so much more. I hope we all learn from his model.”
