Presidential Search Firm to Conduct Open Forums

LOC-AcademicCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 24, 2014 – The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents has secured Parker Executive Search, a leading global executive search firm, to assist with the presidential search.  Representatives from the firm will be in Cape Girardeau Oct. 1-3, 2014, to meet with Southeast faculty and staff, students, alumni and community members.

As part of the commitment to an inclusive search process, Parker Executive Search will hold three open forums on the Southeast campus Wednesday, Oct. 1: one for Southeast faculty and staff members from 1-1:45 p.m., one for students from 3-3:45 p.m., and one for members of the Southeast Missouri University Foundation and Redhawks Club, alumni and community members from 4-4:45 p.m.  All meetings will be held in the University Center Heritage Room.

The forums will gather input on areas such as recent successes, challenges and opportunities at Southeast.  Parker Executive Search representatives will also ask for input regarding the key attributes the next president of Southeast needs to successfully lead the University. The input from these campus outreach events will be used to create the position statement used to recruit candidates for the presidency.

Smaller group meetings with the executive staff, deans and chairs, Faculty Senate executives and committee chairs, the members of the Presidential Search and Screening Advisory Committee and the Board of Regents have also been scheduled.

Individuals who are unable to participate in an open forum but would like to provide input on the search are invited to send an email to the Presidential Search and Screening Advisory Committee at Nominations for candidates may also be sent to that email address.

A 16-member Presidential Search and Screening Advisory Committee was appointed by the Board of Regents to be chaired by Board President Doyle Privett after President Kenneth W. Dobbins announced Sept. 8 that he would retire at the end of June, 2015.
