Counseling and Disability Services’ Question Persuade Refer (QPR) training will be held from noon-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in the University Center Redhawks Room.
QPR training is a suicide prevention module that provides participants with the tools necessary to recognize warning signs and refer individuals who may be at risk for suicide to treatment resources.
This introductory level training is appropriate for anyone who has contact with faculty, staff and students. Participants learn how to identify warning signs, clues and communications related to suicide. Participants also will be provided with a QPR booklet, information on local and national suicide prevention resources and a certificate of completion.
Faculty and staff interested in attending should register at semo.skillport.com/skillportfe/main.action?path=summary/ILT/ilt_QPR.
Faculty and staff unable to attend the QPR training are encouraged to complete “Ask, Listen, Refer” online training. This online training takes approximately 20 minutes and provides a review of risk factors and warning signs for suicide and how to make appropriate referrals to supportive resources on campus and in the community.
